How to find a good SEO Service Company ?
SEO is the new magic password among webmasters. It brings visitors to your website, visitors which are the intangible currency of the Information Age. But what is it really? What is an SEO service company, and do you need one?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. When your website is optimized for search engines, it means that search engines are better able to find your site. Since search engines are still the main way people find things on the internet, better search engine optimization means better traffic–which in turn leads to higher advertising revenues and/or more customers for your products.
So what all is involved in SEO–and can you do it yourself?
Truly good SEO looks at all aspects of the site, from the layout of the pages and the links from one page to another to the content of each page to the “invisible” things such as ALT and META tags in the HTML coding. Each aspect of the site is carefully examined and tweaked so that it yields maximum search engine results.
Because keywords are so important to search engines, search engine optimizers often focus on content and META tags. These are, of course, essential to good SEO, and not to be overlooked. However, a good website SEO service will go beyond that, making the layout more accessible to spiders and submitting the site to various search engines.
So, is search engine optimization something you can do yourself? Possibly. If you have a solid knowledge of HTML, CSS, and website design, if you know how search engines navigate pages and the best ways to lay out a site so spiders can easily crawl it, if you have experience in keyword optimizing your content, and, finally, if you have several hours of time on your hands, then, yes, search engine optimization is certainly something you can do yourself.
If, however, you lack the skills, experience, or even just the time to properly optimize your website, you may find it more advantageous to hire an SEO service to do the work for you.
Is search engine optimization expensive? No. At least, it doesn’t have to be. Certainly there are some sites that will charge you an arm and a leg for the most basic of SEO services. Some services claim to provide search engine optimization and charge you a fortune, but then do no more than submit your website to a few basic search engines–and that’s something you can do for free.
You want to be careful when choosing an SEO service; some cheap SEO services are careless, submitting your site to search engines but doing little else. Others are downright dishonest, stuffing your META tags full of popular keywords, such as names of actresses, that have little or nothing to do with your website. (This technique is known as keyword spamming, and it can get your site banned from major search engines.)
But it doesn’t have to be that way. SEO can be affordable and effective, too. In fact, an affordable SEO service is probably one of the best investments in your website you can make.
How can you tell whether they’re a good company to work with or not? Ask! Reputable ranking SEO services are not afraid to tell you what methods they will use on your website (such as, search engine submission, META and ALT keyword additions, content service, and page layout tweaking, for example). If the services aren’t worth the money, or if the SEO service hedges around and won’t actually tell you what services they perform for you, then you don’t want to go with that company.
A final word: the internet is a global force, and SEO must take that into account. Many SEO companies are based in the States and use American English, which includes American spellings. But, people around the globe who speak English are far more likely to use the British spellings than the American ones. A good website should be optimized for both spellings whenever possible, unless the website is trying to attract visitors primarily from one side of the pond or the other. SEO services based in the UK, or SEO services that are sensitive to both spellings, are better than services that assume everyone in the world will search for American words with American spellings.
